Can you stop people using your brand in keywords?
If you are using AdWords to promote or sell branded products you may find that your ads will be disapproved due to copyright.
Most of the time your ads are disapproved due to one of these reasons:
- Incorrect or inaccurate URLs
- Unnecessary capitalisation
- Use of emotes or symbols
- Excessive exclamation points
- Explicit content (in ad or destination page)
- Making false claims
These types reasons are generally easy to fix, you can edit the content/URL then submit for review. You must make an effort to remedy the reason for disapproval before submitting, if you are constantly submitting for review without changing anything, your Ads account can be suspended.
Using a Trademark in your ads
If your ad was disapproved for using a registered Trademark, you can still have the ad approved but it will take a little bit longer.
This status may even prompt when using your own Trademark, in this case you will need authorise accounts to use your Trademark. Authorisation can be passed to the MCC account and grant permission to all campaigns contained within.
For advertisers, you will need to request authorisation for use of the Trademark. Once the account has been authorised, you will need to resubmit the ads for approval.
What about advertisers using my Trademark?
When you find advertisers using your Trademark, you can also submit a complaint and request Google to disapprove the ads.
