Google Analytics is a free tool used to track activity on your website that can be used to make improvements/changes
Google Analytics is arguably the most common tracking tool used by websites, it’s free and easy to use which provides a great insight to your website visitors behaviour – regardless of the amount of traffic you get.
1. Google Analytics is free
All you need is a Gmail account and you can install the script on your website – most websites use a template style build that means you only need to install the script in one place.
2. You can see how many people visit your website
Without tracking, how are you going to know if your website is a great success or falling flat? Google Analytics shows how many people have visited, where they have come from from and what they do.
You can exclude your IP to avoid recording data of your own visits.
3. You can see the pages they view
Simply view Behavior > Site Content to see the pages your users have visited. This helps you understand which content your users like to see and therefore encourage you to create better content.
4. You can set goals to monitor conversions
You may have heard of CRO or Conversion Rate Optimisation which is the percentage of people who complete a goal you set on your website.
Goals are usually set as product sales, website inquiries or form submissions. Using Analytics you can set these tasks as goals and the behaviour made around them.
5. Google Analytics helps you make more money
When you monitor your website traffic and the behaviour of users, you can make improvements which increase the likeliness your audience will complete goals. You can do this by identifying the pages with a high bounce rate (pages people left immediately) and make the content better.
You can also monitor the source of traffic people came from, any opportunities to improve these areas will help with CTR.
